Jurisdiction and change

Much of U.S. law is state law, and federal rules move through legislation, rulemaking, and litigation. A brief accurate when written can be superseded by an amendment, a stay, a vacatur, or a decision. Volatile statements in briefs are dated in the text for that reason. Always confirm the current position against the official sources cited before acting.

Briefs link to statutes, regulations, agencies, and courts, and a small number of immigration briefs reference an outside law firm as a contextual resource.
